In Search of a Story

The theologian Thomas Berry says as a culture we are in between stories and that we are in need of a new story.

Megan Chaskey, a Sag Harbor poet, musician, educator, mentor, and holistic healing practitioner, draws from living lineages of Naam Yoga therapies, Energy Medicine practices, Harmonyum Healing, and Universal Kabbalah.

Megan has published several books of poetry, including Voice and Birdsong Under the Wisdom Tree, a collection of poems, journal reflections, and memoir. Her poems have appeared in The Light of City and Sea, Sag Harbor Is, and Peace On Earth: A Book of Prayers From Around the World. She has given poetry readings locally and internationally with her husband, poet Scott Chaskey.

Inspired by world music, classical, and sacred sound traditions, her music-making—through voice and flute—led to her creation of five sacred music albums for yoga, meditation and healing in collaboration with Grammy Award–winning musicians, including Luminous Naam and Naam Radiance.

With more than 25 years of teaching experience, Megan mentors visionary leaders, educators, professionals, and creatives through in-person and online one-on-one sessions and workshops. She also hosts the podcast Spirit of Leadership with Megan Chaskey, featuring conversations with change-makers in ecology, the arts, and spirituality.

Scott Chaskey is a poet, farmer, and educator. For 30 years he cultivated soil and community for the Peconic Land Trust at Quail Hill Farm in Amagansett, NY, one of the original CSA’s in the country. Past president of the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York, he was honored as Farmer of the Year in 2013. He has served as a founding Board member for the Center for Whole Communities, in Vermont, Sylvester Manor Educational Farm, Shelter Island, NY, and for the Peter Matthiessen Center, Sagaponack, NY. He is the author of This Common Ground, (Viking, 2005), Seedtime, On the History, Husbandry, Politics, and Promise of Seeds (Rodale, 2014), Stars are Suns (Stoneman, 1995), and most recently, Soil and Spirit (Milkweed Editions, 2023
