Are Humans Healthy for Earth (and its Biodiversity)?
This presentation is a photo and video essay of my first-hand field findings from the last wildernesses on Earth.
It is a critical project inspired by a single statement from Daniel, a safari guide in the front-row seat in the Tanzanian wilderness, who noted: “We have not destroyed everything yet.” His observation deeply pricked my soul, as it was exactly what I had witnessed, learned and experienced about what is left of the Earth’s wild spaces. Bottomline, nature and its species are in trouble, and they require our help. To save ourselves we need to save them.
All living things rely on this planet to sustain it. Yet just one species—Homo sapiens—has been depleting its biodiversity and severely impacting the biosphere’s delicate balance. We have inadvertently disrupted our life source, life force, and sustenance. Collectively, we need to change our destructive behaviors. My goal is to use my field knowledge and images to invite people to fall in love with nature and its species, hoping to inspire them to protect what they love.
